“Unfair to properly assess the quality yet as I haven't had much time to go very far with inputting data or investigating the different software capabilities. Just pleased to get the software after loosing all my previous records due to PC crash. Unfortunately restoring my records will take some time because of other commitments.”

“Good quality products, quick hassle free ordering and delivery. However, I was a bit confused about the A4 tabbed dividers. I thought I had ordered 20 dividers, but in fact it is only 10. As it happens this has proved to be enough, so no problem.”

“I am a previous Family Tree user and have purchased Roots Magic as a replacement. Whilst the recording and manipulation of data is excellent in Roots Magic, unfortunately it falls short of what I had hoped for in terms of output, in particular: 1. Colour selection when categorizing individuals into groups only provides for vivid colours, which are fine when used in the pedigree view, as they only outline the boxes. However if "Print Colour Coding" is used to produce a wall chart, those colours are then too vivid in large blocks. Other colours can of course be selected if "Print Colour Coding" is disabled, but then any coding is lost on the wall chart. Again the colours on the wall chart can be changed, but if for example you wish to colour the boxes by sex then it is a laborious process to select the relevant boxes to change the colour. There appears to be no global settings for such things, unlike Family Tree Maker. The ability to select different colours for different items, in the boxes, in this latter software, was also superior. 2. Output to a PDF file is essential for all reports and this is missing at the moment. These are the two major points that I have to raise, but as I am a newcomer to Roots Magic, I may not have yet fully explored all the options of the software and may be missing some of the capabilities. I would be interested to know if and when solutions to my two points are likely to implemented.”
